AUSTIN - Representative Gallego would like to thank Reeves County Deputy Sheriff Jerry Millan for putting his life on the line in service to his community. Deputy Millan was shot Wednesday, March 10, while serving a misdemeanor warrant. Millan was in stable condition at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa as of Wednesday evening. "I would like to thank Deputy Millan for his bravery and service. I'm extremely thankful for the work that he and all peace officers provide to their communities. I pray that he has a full and quick recovery" Gallego said.
It is easy to forget about the the risks that officers in every department put themselves and their families through. Representative Gallego went on to thank the families of peace officers, saying, "They support their loved ones so that they can live to serve others. For that we all should be grateful."
