AUSTIN - 2010 is a census year and Representative Pete Gallego urges everyone to participate in the census. "Every ten years our government takes a count of everyone living in the country to help appropriate money efficiently" Gallego said. It helps decide where the government sends over $400 Billion.

"This is vital to our children" Gallego said. "They [children] do not have a voice. We need to make sure to complete and return the census so we get the appropriate money for educational and medical purposes." It is a simple 10 question form. All answers are kept confidential and used for counting purposes only. A reminder that it is beneficial to fill it out the first time because many times a census representative is sent to addresses that don't return their forms so an accurate count can be obtained.
